I started training with Nick just over 2 years ago. He has a great approach to explaining the theory of the journey he is taking you on and then delivering the results. When I started I had already adjusted my diet and was starting to lose weight - I hated gyms and in particular pounding the treadmill or cycling to near death… Nick has a different focus - resistance training.
Resistance training builds muscle mass which is important, as muscle burns fat, increases metabolic rate, provides tone, improves posture and transforms general wellbeing - it really does - I have benefited from all of this. So within 3 / 4 months of sensible diet and working with Nick twice per week I had lost 3 stone and nearly 6 inches around my waist. Throughout Nick gave encouragement including photo updates showing before and after - but what really kept me going was just how good I was feeling, the energy I had and the comments I was receiving from others.
Two years later, and now turned 50, I am in maintenance mode, seeing Nick once a week but supplementing that with cardio exercise. With the weight off and greater strength I find I now actually enjoying running and have enthusiasm for other activities such as kayaking and cycling - I like being active these days. I would say I am now body, diet and fitness aware - my metabolic rate allows me to eat cake, have the odd drink, but doing so in moderation and maintaining muscle, fitness etc. I am maintaining a stable state.
In January 2014 I decided enough was enough. I was struggling to fit into size 22 clothes and was becoming really depressed and unhappy with my life. At the age of 45 I was on nine lots of medication (mainly painkillers) for back pain and joint pain and had been on anti-depressants for a number of years. I therefore decided to join the gym to lose weight and get fitter and I decided that as I knew nothing about how the machines worked or what I should be doing, the best way to ensure I did things correctly would be to start training with a personal trainer.
I was a bit worried when I first started training as we were using a lot of weights and not doing any cardio. I can remember saying to Nick I won’t get all big and bulky will I? Looking back now that is one of the silliest things I could have said. If you are a female and reading this, I can confirm that weight training really is the best way to lose your body fat.
When Nick took my 12 week progress pictures at the beginning of April I couldn’t believe the change in my body. I couldn’t believe there was such a change in my shape when all I had been doing was lifting weights – no cardio had been done at this stage. I kept looking at the photos thinking is that really me and I remember bursting into tears.
For years I had been a wannabe gym member. Signing up to a new gym every new year and lasting only a few weeks before getting bored and quitting, after I failed to see any quick results.
I was in this cycle of frustration, disappointment and lacking in motivation after years of trying to lose weight.
When I turned 30 I decided to give it one more try and decided to join Pure Gym. After a few days I noticed Nick training individuals on the gym floor and could see the support and encouragement he was offering. I decided that having someone to point me in the right direction might be the thing I need to really start driving my weight lose.
After my first session with Nick it was clear not only would Nick train me but he really would be there to support and encourage me every step of the way. Nick is an excellent trainer but more importantly is a mentor and friend, allowing me to truly see my potential.
It has been a great pleasure to train with Nick over the past two years and would highly recommend Tenco Training.

I first met Nick in March 2013. I was morbidly obese, broken and lost. I joined the gym out of utter desperation not just to lose weight but to get my life back on track; for longer than I’d care to mention I was living in limbo, existing. The first session was incredibly difficult. It meant I had to be honest not just with Nick but myself. After that session though I knew it was worth it. Simply hearing the words “I can help you” felt like a weight had already lifted. We began training weekly. Now something you should know about me is I hate the gym! I find it intimidating and feel like people are staring at me. Nick also helped to dispel this myth and sometimes strangers really are kind and supportive. Though following an individual eating plan and exercise regime I managed to lose five stones in weight! I still have a way to go on my journey but the first steps were much easier with the support of Nick. That for me is the crux of it. He is more than just a trainer he’s a coach and if I need support it’s there.
From encouragement to continue when I feel like my limbs are going to fall off to a text In between sessions to offer support and guidance. For personal reasons I had to give up training and lost my focus. Unfortunately the weight crept back in as did old habits. Feeling the desperation again I knew what I had to do. Again Nick was there supportive as ever. I’m back on board and reducing. I used to hate having photos taken but now I can’t wait for the next lot of progress photos I'm always amazed at the change happening right in front of my own eyes!
Nick hasn’t just helped with weight loss, fitness and confidence but he’s saved my life and given me back the control that I thought was gone forever. Whatever your goal, if you’re committed to Nick and want to make positive changes, he will commit to you and be there every step along the way. It’s not been an easy process and I still have a long way to go but I’m confident that by following the Tenco regime I will get there and so can you.
Nick is the modern personal trainer. A one stop shop on advice from nutrition to personalised coaching. He is forward thinking and adapts his approach to my individual needs. The results speak for themselves. I couldn't recommend him highly enough.
You know when you are casually summing up which shape body parts you would like. "Arms like that girl over there and legs like the girl off the TV". Well here's the secret, Tenco Training made it happen! As a size 22 new mum I never thought I would get my body back and feel so inspired and invigorated in the process. I'm now a size 12 and I feel at 42 like I should have done at 22. Life changing stuff. Thank you so much Nick Tenconi.
For the past three years I have been trying to lose weight. It gradually came off but seemed like a chore. I got a trainer which helped but I didn't feel I was getting much out of it. I changed gyms to be with my partner and he recommended Nick to me.
I wasn't sure whether to commit as I hadn't had much success previously but thought it was worth a try. I had my first session in June 2015 and Nick was both lovely and very approachable. We had a meeting to discuss "me" and what I wanting to achieve and started training. The workouts were fun and enjoyable and constantly changed. If I needed Nick he was on the other end of the phone or at the gym ready to help.
Whilst training he noticed I was naturally strong and suggested power lifting and I love it! I haven't looked back; scales don't bother me anymore; my body is transforming and I am loving the process. This is thanks to Tenco's hard work and dedication and spotting my strengths. Power lifting!
Having Nick as a personal trainer is fantastic, not only did he help me with my physical transformation and knowledge of my own body but also mentally. Nick gave me the support and drive that I needed while in the gym and I don’t think I could have done it without him. Nicks training methods are brilliant, I was developing very quickly and enjoying the workouts we were doing no matter how hard Nick pushed me.
Nick inspired me while we were working out, not only physically but how to be a better person in general and I thank him for that, he gave me more confidence in and out of the gym and I like to think of him as a friend as well as my personal Trainer. About a year ago I was going to the gym about 3 times a week and doing whatever I fancied at the time, I had no structure or goals. I was doing some ab work one day when I noticed a lady next to me really pushing herself definitely more than what I was and she was (at the time) a lot bigger than me and I thought to myself WOW she is amazing. A few months past and I was at the gym again and I saw the same lady and I could not believe my eyes I had to say something to her, the transformation in her from seeing her a few months previous was no other word than phenomenal! Her name is Deb Cole she was and still is my inspiration and encouraged me to get in touch with Nick and start training with him. I have always struggled with my weight and diet always thinking that “if I starve myself I will lose weight” and just in general feeling “fat” after training with Nick those words have NEVER entered my mind again. It’s all about working out and eating the right food to fuel your body and there is no better person I would recommend to keep you motivated and inspired then Nick. His continuous support and words of encouragement will keep you going even on those dark days. I have laughed and cried with Nick he is not only a great mentor he is a great friend and is always on the end of the phone offering words of wisdom to pick you back up again.
Training is the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life my whole body changed shape, I was more defined, I had muscle tone and I could fit into clothes better. My confidence shot through the roof and instead of dreading the gym and feeling nervous I was picking up weights and not caring about how I looked or who was watching I was in the gym for me and me only. It did take me a long time to believe in myself some training sessions the words “ I can’t” seemed to always come out of my mouth but as the months went on and I pushed myself, any bit of pain I felt while training spurred me on to start believing that actually “I can”.
The knowledge and education I have learnt from Nick while training with him will be something I carry on through my life when anyone tells me they are on a “diet” I try share my experiences with them that training and eating the right foods can make you achieve a healthier lifestyle and a happier you- you just need to work for it.

I began training with Nick in 2015. I knew I was at an unhealthy weight and had to do something to make a change for my life. When I met Nick I did not know how much he would change my life, but from the start of our conversation I could see how educated he was when it comes to health and fitness and his passion for it was exuberant.
